Remodelers and Other Small Businesses are moving their advertising to the web

I picked up my husband’s remodeling magazine the other day (not something I typically read), but the cover caught my eye. It had in huge letters: “Web Marketing 101 - Looking for more leads? Turn to the Web”. Well, of course, I had to pick it up and read it. Looks like Remodelers are moving to the web too!
What did I learn? Here are some of the highlights:
- In slow economic times, an updated (or just one) website could be bringing in more business than any other lead source. This one remodeler spent $12,000 in updating his website and SEO! I think that’s a bit much, due to all the affordable tools to get found on the web now. And SEO is not always the answer.
- Remodelers are moving to the web by using social networks, such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. My personal opinion is LinkedIn would be the best social network for that type of small business.
- Setting up a blog on your website. This can always give you new material, which helps search engines find you. But what has been seen is that most of the time people put up a blog and then don’t do anything with it. If the guy can commit to it, he can start broadcasting his blog posts all over the web. But don’t do it if you are not going to consistently post.
That’s just a few more tips to help small businesses survive in a tough economy! Like I said, even remodelers are moving to the web!
